Episode 15

Using Song Writing to Mend Trauma with Emma G

TRIGGER WARNING: In this episode, my guest and I dive into the following topics: Childhood Sexual Assault, Suicide, Smoking, Alcoholism and Drug use. If you choose to listen, please pay attention to your body. If you need to pause or stop listening to this episode, please honour that. Thank you.

At four months old, Emma G already had brain surgery. In her childhood, she saw alcoholism affect her family. In her teens, she was sexually assaulted, homeless, addicted to alcohol and drugs. Then, at 19, she had one session with a psychologist that changed her life. For the first time, she knew she was on this Earth for a reason!

An award-winning musician, author, and youth empowerment coach, Emma G has had a lifelong battle with a rare neurological condition called hydrocephalus, and has used music to recover from multiple traumas, including ten brain surgeries. She is on a mission to save the world one song at a time, not just through her own music, but also by coaching teenagers to channel their voices and struggles through the powerful tool of songwriting.

I invite you to join our conversation as Emma G and I discuss:

  • Neurological disorders
  • Sexual Assault
  • Homelessness
  • Trauma Treatment
  • Forgiveness
  • Out of body experience
  • EMDR
  • Millennials
